Simple Chili..

simple chili recipe

I want to start with a disclaimer.. up until the moment I made this chili..I had never made chili in my life.. and I have to say it was some of the best chili I have ever had. So Yay!

Okay.. short and sweet.. here is the recipe..

Ingredients (This recipe serves 2-3 people)

1 1/2 pound ground Beef
2 cloves garlic, chopped
One 8-ounce can tomato paste
1 packet of Simply Organic Mild Chili Seasoning (or organic chili seasoning of your choice)
1 teaspoon salt (more to your taste after cooked)
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more to your taste after cooked)
One 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed

Chopped onions (red or white), for serving
Fresh Cilantro, for serving

*Optional (any combination of these)
Sour Cream, for serving
Shredded Cheddar, for serving
Tortilla chips, for serving
Lime wedges, for serving

In a large pot cook the ground beef and garlic. Cook over medium heat until browned. Drain off the excess fat, add the can of tomato paste. Stir together. Fill the tomato paste can with water and add to the pot. Add salt and cayenne pepper. Stir together well, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. If the mixture becomes thick and dry, add a 1/4 or 1/2cup of water at a time as needed. 

After an hour, add the beans and more water 1/2 to 1 cup depending on consistency (taste to see if additional seasoning is needed) and simmer for another 20 mins.

Serve in a bowl and garnish with onions and cilantro and whatever other garnish from the list you like.
