I adore the concept of layering.. but layering without looking like a hot mess can often be a daunting task. Ever see those gals on the streets or in the magazines who have on about 5 layers of clothing but some how manage to make it look effortless. Well there is a method the madness. So let’s explore how not to be a hot mess while jumping on the layer train.
These two rules have always worked for me.
1. Stay with in the color families. What I mean is either go monochromatic or pair like colors. Here I am doing the latter. Neutral shoes and jacket picked up by the neutral leaves in the pants.. and the black in the pants picked up by the black bag and black sunnies. It may seem complicated.. but it is super easy. If you are unsure.. stick with one or two colors.
2. Mix the fitted with the flowing. Now this is more of an exception depending on your body type. Girls with curves.. whether you are big or small.. Stick to the fitted/flowing combo. Here I mix fitted top and fitted waist trousers with a flowing jacket. That way you still see I have a shape.. but the look is super easy breezy.
What are some of your layering tricks and tips?

Thanks love.. And seriously thank you for being a die hard commenter here.. really appreciated!
Great tips! I love the print on your culottes. For myself, I have been using vests a lot as a layering piece for the fall. They work great over sweaters which are sometimes hard to fit under coats. Thanks for sharing these useful tips.
