I’m not what would be considered a “girly girl” by any means, especially when it comes to my wardrobe. I gravitate towards edges and strong silhouettes. Many times for me the baggier the better.
You will most likely find me in a silhouette that doesn’t say “girly girl”.. but says “womanly woman”. Allow me to explain..
..I believe that a woman can demonstrate her power in both what she decides to hide as well as what she allows to be seen. A healthy mix back and forth between the two yields to absolute perfection. A woman that can rock mom jeans one day and a classic vintage Herve Lerge bandage dress the next is a woman who recognizes that her power lies both in her head and her form. Ignoring neither.
Women are the most powerful creatures on earth because we can nurture yet discipline.. rule yet be ruled.. love yet know when to let go. The juxtaposition of the brain and the body is what ultimately breathes life and longevity into everything a woman is capable of.. and we are capable of more than we will ever reveal.
Certain events of last week that shall remain nameless, yet caused quite a stir involving things like “breaking the Internet” and the conversations that these events caused got me thinking about what it is to be a woman..a role model, a human being capable of bringing life in to this world and all that it entails. While I won’t speak directly to the subject here.. I will say this.. All the comments, instagrams, tweets and news stories that occurred as a result… They got me thinking..
I am a womanly woman by choice.. not a girly girl.. Neither is a fault.. and both have their places in the world.
Have a wonderful Monday!
