I’m very close with my dad‘s parents. They are both Creole from New Orleans who came to LA in their teens and 20s. Although they’ve been here a long time they are New Orleans Creole grandparents through and through. Growing up here in LA there was no shortage of Creole culture from my grandparents or my Dad’s side of my family. I’m so thankful for that. My grandmother makes the best gumbo you’ve ever tasted. Hence why I can never eat gumbo in a restaurant to this day, no matter what restaurant it is. I go to lunch with them all the time. In my 20s and 30s my grandmother and I would have lunch in Beverly Hills every Friday, mostly at @NeimanMarcus downstairs at the Mariposa. After lunch we would shop the shoes and sunglasses on the 1st floor and the clothes on 2nd and 3rd floors. The 3rd floor was my favorite because that’s where all the trendy cool clothes were. Then we would try on all the new make up and perfume. Sometimes my grandfather would join us to his dismay. Family is important, cherish the memories.. I just thought I’d share a little slice of my life here.. something I rarely do. #creole #creolefamily
