Monsieur Marcel… hidden treasure at The Grove..

Back story:

I was actually introduced to Monsieur Marcel by a boy I was dating about year ago..The boy, who shall remain nameless decided to buy me some chocolate treats before a movie.  I have been wanting to blog about the place ever since..but time goes by and schedules get a bit crazy..  thus a year later here we are..

Little more back story:

I originally had a wonderful lunch courtesy of the really cool owners of Monsieur Marcel’s about a month ago. I ate and got some really great photo’s..and then the Nikon and the Compact flash with it decided to get the flu.. (a flu that cost me a lot of photos three weeks and $300 bucks to fix.. ugh).  Anyhow needless to say I had to make a second trip.

Okay…So a little about this amazing French slash world market slash cafe tucked into corner of the the old farmers market at the Grove.

If you like French you will Adore Monsieur Marcel.

Just have a look at the photos above and you will understand why.

First off lets just be plain honest.. The grove has tons of places to eat..but NOWHERE to eat..Get it!

Monsieur Marcel’s has actually been around for 20+ years and they have a location in Santa Monica at the 3rd Street Promenade.

…and for the summer they are offering some French specials. Rather than write it all out.. I will just quote a couple paragraphs they sent over..

Monsieur Marcel is offering a special Film et Vin promotion. Moviegoers who present their ticket stub from either the Pacific Theaters at the Grove at Monsieur Marcel’s Farmers Market bistro or the AMC Theaters at their Promenade bistro will receive free hors d’oeuvres with purchase of a glass of wine. Those visiting the Farmers Market location will also have the option to present their movie ticket for 20% off a bottle of wine at Monsieur Marcel’s gourmet market. The promotion will run from June 20th – August 31st. Offer only valid on the same day the movie was viewed. Limit one per customer.

For those looking to take their wine and cheese on the road to the Hollywood Bowl, Monsieur Marcel has the perfect summer menu for a picnic under the stars. Winers and diners can customize a “Bowl in a Bag” with charcuterie platters, cheese plates, French baguette sandwiches, champagne, chocolate and other French delicacies to indulge all their epicurean desires. Sample menu items include: salade d’endives au roquefort ($13.99), sandwich au jambon d’espagne ($10.99), charcterie francaises ($17.99), a make your own cheese plate, and Monsieur Marcel sea salt caramels ($6.25). 

So if you have never been.. go grab a glass of wine and some yummy french treats…before your next cinema experience..
