McQueen + The MET + Me (looking like a real live Tourist)

The beginning of the McQueen exhibit.
Me waiting for the train with my tourist paraphernalia
Quote.
I want to be honest about the world that we live in and sometimes my political persuasions come through in my work.  Fashion can be really racist, looking at the clothes of other cultures at costumes…That’s mundane and it’s old hat. Let’s Breakdown some barriers.

-Alexander McQueen

This is a quick post to literally say that if you are in at all into fashion and art AND in New York City AND have not been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibit then you are truly missing out.
In my day and half trip I somehow managed to get there..and it was more than worth it.  Now the sad part is that there is no photography allowed so I was only able to get one semi-recognizable photo.  Actually amazing that I got one at all being that I was shooting blind from my cell phone into a mirror that serves as the base for the beginning portion of the exhibit.
Thus one photo.. and not from lack of trying, but after my third warning from the very serious security guard I figured it was more important to actually see the exhibit.
Now yes the rumors are true.  There is a two hour wait.. However..when your back is against the wall and you only have an hour to spare.. the universe will step in on your behalf.. which is exactly what happened to me.
Hear this..
Members of the MET skip the line..
I am not a member, but happened to be standing in line in front of an amazing mother daughter pair that decide to purchase the $70 dollar membership right there on the spot.. so I did what any desperate girl boarding a plane to Chicago in 4 hours would do..I offered them $10 bucks to walk in with them..  and guess what…  I skipped the line.. I have to say that they actually would not take the $10 bucks from me, which made it even more amazing.. I thank them completely.
The exhibit closes August 7th.. so seriously get over there…
