Denim Heaven!! Rufcut Jean Shack..

Picture this.. I’m sure we have all done it…You are driving along in traffic..completely late for where ever you are headed..You seem to hit every light..totally anxious.. then you see it!!  

In this case it was Rufcut Jean Repair Shack..  Literally a little shack in a parking lot on Pico Blvd.  For a second I thought maybe it was a mirage. I have seriously been stuck in a Levis cut-off drought forever!  For some reason every time I go to get them they are either sold out or wayyyyyy to expensive. I REFUSE to pay $80 for a pair of worn in cut off jean shorts!!  

Anyhow, as I usually do, I got completely sidetracked.  “What appointment???”  I knew that if I did not turn into that parking lot at that very second months of hot beautiful days without Levis cut-offs would drift by before I got back there. 

So  I turned..  I entered.. and OMG!! I was in Denim heaven.  

Greeted by:

1. Cat Stevens “Wild World” blaring from the record player

2. Robert the owner who affectionately calls his place “The Love Shack” 

Long story even longer.. after trying on endless pairs of amazing perfectly worn in and shredded cut-offs  hand picked by Robert himself.. (talk about customer service!) I found my perfect pair.. You may recognized them from a previous  FASHION FRIDAY here .. I also snagged a few other items..super cute leather cuff, made by Robert the owner and a vintage Joe Cool tee.  I would have snagged this Ah-Mazing studded denim cross body bag but my wallet was screaming at me..  

Did I mention that they also repair your denim.. or get this..turn your wides into skinnies and your skinnies into wides..  Not bad!!! and when you buy a pair either Robert or his super cute protege will adjust them to fit you perfectly.

Okay here is the sad news..

The Rufcut Jean Shack is slated to be torn down at the end of the year to make room for ..you ready for this…A TRAIN!! Ugggggg!!!  The shack has been in business for 40 years and Robert has owned it for the last 15 years.  There has to be a way to actually move this vintage L.A. staple to another location..and I mean actually put the building on a truck and move it!!  Any Takers???

So run..run and run.. to the shack..because it may not be there much longer.
