One frantic phone call… one sold out pie shop.

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that two of my favorite past times are shopping and eating.  There is actually nothing I love more than good food.  

Allow me to introduce you to Simple Things.. open for nearly two weeks now..this little sweet and savory pie and sandwich shop stationed right on 3rd street is pretty much my new favorite place in the world.  Well except for that little crepe stand that I visited everyday when I was in Paris…

daydreaming…….daydreaming….okay I’m back!!

Let me tell you how Simple Things and I met..  It was Thursday…Thanksgiving… I was home writing…and was invited to a dinner at 3pm.  Cut to 11am when I realized that I had forgotten to get a pie! I was planning to get a pie for a week and in the midst of life I completely forgot to order one.  Welcome to my world..This is were Simple Things comes in.

One frantic phone call… one sold out pie shop..and about 30 minutes until every place in the city was closed..

that was what I was faced with.. this is what I got..

Three Simple Things individual Pies and a visit to one of the cutest places to pop up in LA..  Andy and Ryan..two of the three owners,  not knowing if I was a crazed Thanksgiving lunatic actually stayed open for me long enough for me to jump in my car, race to 3rd street and ponder which of these amazing little pies I was going to buy..  and again ask anyone who knows me..quick decision making is not really my thing 🙂 I actually think they secretly let me buy my pies from the stash they were taking home.  Talk about customer service!!

Let me give you a quick run down of the menu which is broken down into 9 sections:

•Veggie #2: balsamic roasted vegetables oven roasted tomatoes, burrata tapenade

•Steak and Lager pot pie

•Salted Caramel(my favorite favorite!!)

•Keylime

•French silk

•Chocolate peanut butter

•Chocolate cream 

•Lemon Meringue 

•Missouri mud

and ..

•Whoopie pie..its like a cross between a cookie, a sandwich, a cake and a muffin..  AMAZING!

There is so much that can be said about Simple Things ..but the name actually speaks for itself..
